Local businesses went head to head at the Pitch Event where Siouxland GO members and sponsors got to vote on Siouxland’s next big business. The competing businesses were
selected by the public at Innovation Market in May.
 
The top 4 finalists presented their ideas more in depth and made a case as to why they are Siouxland’s next big business. First place received $5,000; second place received $2,500; third
place $1,000.

What: Siouxland Growth Organization’s 14th Annual Innovation Market will give local entrepreneurs and businesses the opportunity to win up to $5,000 to put towards their business.
As one of Siouxland’s biggest business competitions, the public votes on their favorite business proposal to go to the next round. The top 5 businesses will then move on to present to a closed group of Siouxland GO members for a final vote.

The Sioux City Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), also known as the Siouxland tri-state region, retained the nation’s top spot for per capita economic development performance for populations under 200,000 for the fourth year in a row. Additionally, in the competitive ranking among states, the State of South Dakota was recognized as the top performing state in the nation based on per capita economic development projects for the 2023 calendar year.

A week of events relating to innovation and entrepreneurship will take place in Sioux City as part Iowa’s West Coast Initiative annual Launch Week, November 14th - 17th. Launch Week aims to inspire and promote collaboration among students, business owners and professionals throughout northwest Iowa by providing workshops, startup presentations and networking opportunities.

Sioux City, one of the real estate market areas served by members of the Northwest Iowa Regional Board of Realtors® was recently ranked No. 5 on the Summer 2023 Emerging Housing Markets Index issued jointly by The Wall Street Journal and Realtor.com®. This is the second time Sioux City has been included in the index in 2023, and an increase in ranking. The city was previously No. 7 in the Spring 2023 Emerging Housing Markets Index.

Cold-Link Logistics is celebrating their new cold storage facility in Southbridge Business Park in Sioux City. The Miami-based cold storage warehousing firm held a ribbon cutting and open house on July 28, 2023 at their new $60 million facility, which has been open for nearly 3 months. Located on 37 acres of the city’s 27 Flags industrial site, the company currently employs 80 people and is serving local companies such as Perdue, empirical and Wells Blue Bunny with plans for a 120,000 sq. ft. expansion by next summer.

Missouri River Historical Development (MRHD) named local non-profit, Iowa’s West Coast Initiative as the recipient of a $750,000 Economic Development Match Grant during their official announcement event today at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City.

The $750,000 grant will help support the redevelopment of an existing vacant building located in downtown Sioux City into an Innovation Center that will serve as a hub for entrepreneurial activity and help support business growth in the region.

The free event will feature Dave Anderson, author of Becoming a Leader of Character: Six Habits that Make or Break a Leader at Work and at Home and share how to develop a plan for growing leaders of character in your life.

The Sioux City Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), also known as the Siouxland tri-state region, retained the nation’s top spot for economic development for populations under 200,000 for the fourth year in a row according to results released today by Site Selection magazine in their 2022 annual rankings. The news, hailed by elected officials, including South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and local business leaders, represents the eleventh time Siouxland has ranked first in the nation since initially earning the coveted spot in 2007.
