Downtown Sioux City Tenant Improvement Program
The City of Sioux City and Downtown Partners would like to extend an invitation to entrepreneurs looking to open a business downtown to apply for the Downtown Tenant Improvement Program. The main purpose of the Downtown Tenant Improvement Program is to encourage the buildout of first floor retail/restaurant space within eligible properties in the Downtown Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District (SSMID). The program will provide financial assistance to supplement the investment made by tenants and property owners to overcome the tremendous initial expense of building out a new space and create a thriving downtown retail experience.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and scored by City staff based on scoring criteria found in the link below to confirm each proposed project meets the City’s standards and goals. Projects that are selected for funding will be presented to City Council and applicants will enter into an agreement with the City. Projects must be completed within 12 months of the award date.
The application opens on July 1, 2025. Applications can be submitted in person on the 3rd floor of City Hall in the Economic Development Department or can be emailed to Clayton Bengford in PDF format.
