B2Box Receives $2,500 Innovation Market 2nd Place

The Innovation Market is a social think-tank designed to grow local ideas while forming connections between like-minded leaders of every age. The event is about taking ideas, however big or small, and growing them into action. As a follow-up event, the Top 5 Pitch is an opportunity for the five finalists to present their entrepreneurial ideas to benefit the Siouxland Community.Sioux City Growth Organization (SCGO) hosted the fifth annual Innovation Market on February 24. This was the third year the Innovation Market had two business ideas receive a cash award.

On Friday, May 8, the City of Sioux City along with the Siouxland Chamber and Kramer and Associates will present the second place cash prize of $2,500 to Ryan Martinez for his B2Box idea.  By bundling locally-made items, B2Box allows businesses to gift a box to a select individual or group of individuals to show customer/employee appreciation. Similar to first place, B2Box will receive office space, tax and incorporation along with the $2,500 in start up money.

The first place cash award went to Dave Winslow with Jackson Street Brewing. He will brew beer at their leased 5th Street location, and sell it by the glass, in growlers, and through small-scale distribution.

Sioux City Growth Organization was formed in 2002 to encourage young professionals to become active members of the Siouxland community. We encourage progressive and innovative ideas, and bring together voices from all generations to create a positive impact on the future of our community. Our goal is to attract and retain young professionals in the area, by providing insight on what Sioux City has to offer and how they can get involved in shaping its future.
