American Airlines to Add Service to Dallas/Ft. Worth

Sioux City Mayor Bob Scott announced today that American Airlines will add service out of Sioux Gateway Airport to their hub in Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport beginning Thursday, May 5, 2016. American’s service will be operated by its American Eagle regional partners using 50-seat ERJ 145 jets.

American will operate one daily flight to Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport. In addition to being a great connecting hub for travelers heading west or southeast, Dallas is also a top destination for Siouxland leisure and business travelers.

Darrell Jesse, President of the Sioux Gateway Airport Board of Trustees said, “The addition of south-bound air service to Dallas, Texas validates the strength of our market and will complement our existing east-bound service to Chicago. Travelers will experience easier access to southern and western destinations and should continue to support Sioux Gateway Airport to ensure long term service.” Jesse thanked American Airlines for their continued commitment to air service in Siouxland and noted that Sioux Gateway Airport has enjoyed a very positive and professional relationship with them since they entered the market in 2012.

Patrick Quayle, Managing Director Network and Fleet Strategy, said, “The new service provides Sioux City customers with convenient access to our largest hub in Dallas/Fort Worth with connections to more than 200 markets in more than 25 countries. This addition highlights American’s commitment to providing the best network, and we look forward to serving the Sioux City market for many years to come.”

Tickets can be purchased beginning Saturday, January 16, 2016 by visiting the Sioux Gateway Airport website www.flysux.com, the American Airlines website www.aa.com or by contacting your local travel agent.

Barbara Sloniker, Executive Vice President of the Siouxland Initiative, welcomed the news. “This expansion of air service is the result of a long-term team effort, tremendous regional cooperation, and a strong alliance between our public and private sector leadership.  American’s announcement is welcome news as this will have a profoundly positive impact on our tri-state economic development initiatives.”
