10th Annual Innovation Market Encourages New Business Ideas

Sioux City Growth Organization (SCGO) would like to invite you to its 10th Annual Innovation Market competition on Thursday, February 20th. Entrepreneurs can still submit their ideas at https://siouxcitygo.com. The submission portal will close at midnight on Thursday, February 13th.

Innovation Market is a social think-tank and business idea competition designed to grow local ideas while fostering connections between like-minded leaders of every age. The event is about taking ideas, however big or small, and growing them into action in Siouxland. For the first time in Innovation Market history, this year the top five ideas from Innovation Market will go on to compete for $10,000 in total cash prizes: $5,500 for First Place, $3,000 for Second Place, and $1,500 for Third Place. They will also win other valuable startup-focused prizes donated by local businesses. 

Innovation Market will also serve as host for the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce’s February Rush Hour Connect, which will provide even greater networking opportunities for event attendees.

After the networking and voting period concludes, the Innovation Market 2020 program will kick-off with a welcome from 2020 SCGO Board Vice President Jed Van’t Hof. Inspiring and informative talks will follow, featuring previous winners of Innovation Market. On the docket will be; Dave Winslow with Jackson Street Brewing (1st Place 2015), Ryan Allen & Meghan Nelson with Lumin Therapy (1st Place 2016), Erik Martin with Marto Brewing (2nd Place 2016), Sara Gotch with Gnarly Pepper (1st Place 2017), Rosalind Torres with Colibri Kitchen (1st Place 2019), and Rachel Tudehope & Drew Parvu with So Many Board Games (3rd Place 2019).

Innovation Market will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. The event will take place on the second floor of the Virginia Square Building, downtown Sioux City. In addition to participants, SCGO invites and encourages community members to attend Innovation Market and support local entrepreneurs. The evening will include networking opportunities with light hors d’oeuvres and beverages provided.
