Launch Week to Inspire Entrepreneurs

A week of events relating to innovation and entrepreneurship will take place in Sioux City as part of the 2nd annual Launch Week, September 5th – 12th. With speakers, startup presentations and plenty of networking, Launch Week aims to inspire, motivate, and promote collaboration among professionals.

The week of creativity begins with Startup Weekend Sioux City September 5th – 7th held at Springboard Coworking where anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams form around the top ideas followed by a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekend concludes with presentations to local entrepreneurial leaders providing additional feedback. Startup Weekends are the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 1800 events in 120 countries around the world in 2014. On Tuesday, September 9, join Mitch Matthews as he presents “How to Google Your Brain” at Business for Breakfast at the Sioux City Convention Center. Learn how to recognize the questions you are asking yourself, co-workers, clients and customers, and how to ask better questions that will produce better search results to motivate and inspire new ideas and solutions. The free event begins at 7:30am and is sponsored by Briar Cliff University, Morningside College and Western Iowa Tech Community College. RSVP’s are requested by calling 224-5500.

A Lunch & Learn will be held on Wednesday, September 10 at 11:30am at Trattoria Fresco. The free event will focus on the various types of legal structures that an entrepreneur will have to consider when starting a business and local lending options. Presenters include attorney Ryan Ross and US Bank president Darin Daby and is sponsored by US Bank.

Thursday, September 11 brings a casual night of networking for entrepreneurs, small business owners and community leaders with Biz Brew. Held at the outdoor patio at Buffalo Alice, attendees will make connections with others looking to grow their network and learn about resources available for startups. The free event starts at 5:00pm and is sponsored by Downtown Partners.

To conclude the week, listen to local entrepreneur, Jean Gill of Four Paws Fitness and Rehab share her business story and give your feedback at First Friday Coffee held Friday, September 12 at 9:00am at Springboard Coworking.
