American Airlines to Add Second Daily Flight

Officials at Sioux Gateway Airport/Col. Bud Day Field in Sioux City announced today that American Airlines will add a second roundtrip flight out of Sioux City to their hub in Dallas/Ft. Worth from February 15, 2018 to March 3, 2018.  This is the third time in the past three months that American has announced additional seasonal flights to their Dallas/Ft. Worth hub. American had previously announced a second daily flight from November 20-28, 2017 and December 23, 2017 – January 5, 2018.

$34 Million Transformation of Three Historic Buildings

Real estate development firm, J Development, has announced plans to redevelop three historic buildings in Sioux City, including 413 Pierce Street (former Hatch Furniture Building), 520 Nebraska Street (Commerce Building) and 2825 Douglas Street (former St. Luke’s/Methodist Hospital Building). J. Development, an Omaha, NE-based firm, will purchase the three properties for development into mixed-use and market-rate residential facilities. Redevelopment of the three projects will add more than 175 market-rate housing units to the market with a total capital investment of $34 million.

LAMB Arts Regional Theatre Announces Renovation of 625 Douglas Building

LAMB Arts Regional Theatre & School announces a capital campaign to turn the building at 625 Douglas St., (previously home to KCAU-TV), into a performing arts center that will be the new home for the theatre. The 625 Douglas project is contingent on City Council approval of a $350,000 Economic Development loan from the City of Sioux City that will allow the nonprofit organization to purchase the KCAU-TV building.

A “Growing Sioux City Award” was presented to Ho-Chunk, Inc. today at a ribbon cutting and open house event for 103 Virginia Square. Presented by Mayor Bob Scott, the award recognizes the company’s growth and investment in Sioux City. The “Growing Sioux City Award” was accepted by Ho-Chunk, Inc. Chief Investment Officer Dennis Johnson. Sioux City wind shirts were provided to company executives and a new tree will be planted at the Virginia Square properties, signifying the company’s commitment to growing in Sioux City.

Seaboard Triumph Foods Pork Processing Plant Operations Begin

Sioux City, Iowa (Aug. 31, 2017) – Seaboard Triumph Foods (“STF”) will start operation of its new pork processing plant located in Sioux City, Iowa, on Sept. 5. The facility will begin with one shift of commercial operations that will ramp up employment to approximately 1,100 employees once the shift reaches full production. At full one-shift capacity, the facility will process upwards of 10,000 head of market hogs a day.

IEDA Board Approves Sioux City Reinvestment District Application

The Iowa Economic Development Authority Board voted unanimously to give contingent approval to Sioux City’s Reinvestment District program application on August 18. The state board approved $13.5 million in financial assistance toward four proposed projects totaling $134 million.

Keizer Refrigeration Announces $7 Million Expansion

Keizer Refrigeration, a longtime Sioux City refrigeration business, plans to open an expanded facility along Harbor Drive, eight miles to the south of its current location in the 3200 block of Highway 75. As part of its relocation and expansion, the company also plans to add 12 new workers to its current staff of 35. 

"We're excited to grow in Sioux City," president Shane Keizer said. "We're happy to be along the interstate and get some more exposure, as well."
