2017 Sioux City Go Ripple Award Winners

The Sioux City Growth Organization (SCGO) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2017 Ripple Awards. The Individual award winner is Jeana Goosmann and the Business award recipient is Ho-Chunk Inc. SCGO presented the awards on Friday, September 28th during their celebration of Sioux City Young Professionals Day, hosted at the Diving Elk.

Each year, the SCGO Ripple Awards are given out to an individual and business who have made a significant 'ripple' or positive impact in the community by excelling in their efforts to attract, retain, grow and develop the Siouxland community.

Jeana Goosmann is CEO and Managing Partner of Goosmann Law Firm in Sioux City. After becoming an entrepreneur and starting her firm in 2009, she has grown her practice to a team of 40+, creating jobs in the community, purchasing and renovating two historic buildings in the Downtown, and she strongly promotes community involvement. Jeana herself is passionate about giving back and supports local charities and non-profits. Over the years Jeana has been a board member for Girls Inc., past chair and executive committee member of Women United, P.E.O. member and international scholar, past board member and president of the Sioux City Art Center Association, and former board member of Western Iowa Tech Community College Foundation. Jeana has been an avid supporter, sponsor, and volunteer for the Siouxland Food Bank, River-Cade Royalty, Race for Hope 5k, UnityPoint Health -St. Luke’s Children’s Miracle Network, Crittenton Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland, Camp High Hopes, SCGO, and the LaunchPad Children’s Museum.

Ho-Chunk Inc. gives back to the community by providing opportunities for their employees to get involved and through its continued Siouxland developments. Ho-Chunk encourages their employees to become involved in the community and you can find many employees sitting on variety of boards in the Siouxland area. Specifically, Lance Morgan, Ho-Chunk Inc. CEO, is the current president of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce, Dennis Johnson, CIO is current Downtown Partners President and on the Sioux City Public Schools Foundation Finance Committee, and Annette Hamilton, COO is a current board member of the Mercy Medical Center. On top of community involvement Ho-Chunk Inc. has helped make Downtown Sioux City and its entrance more attractive by purchasing, renovation, and redeveloping the Virginia Square district of Downtown. The company plans to invest over $107 million dollars in the development of Siouxland and it is easy to see why their company is the winner of this year’s Business Ripple Award.

“The Sioux City Growth Organization is very excited for and proud of both our individual and business winners,” states Chris Jackson, President of the Sioux City Growth Organization. “Both Jeana Goosmann and Ho-Chunk Inc. go above and beyond to support Siouxland. They encourage and promote community involvement and they both work very hard, continuously trying to make Siouxland more livable, professionally attractive, and exciting for young professionals.”

SCGO would like to thank everyone who was nominated as individuals and businesses for the Ripple Awards this year and we encourage you to keep an eye out for those who make a ripple in the community to nominate next year.
